Our Elevators are working. Electricity is still on. We are hoping to check the roof today. Will update later. Also will supply messages from other condo properties.
Karen Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort MyersOfficials say there was no damage at the airport but they were waiting Monday on restoration of power before flights can take off and land.
Boil Water Order for the entire area. Lee County asks residents to limit the amount of water being used because many of the water pumping stations are not working. Update on Roads and Bridges September 11, 2017 Update from Lee County DOT and Lee County Emergency Management: Additional bridges have been cleared by Lee County DOT for travel: Midpoint Bridge (Cape Coral-Fort Myers) Cape Coral Bridge (Cape Coral-Fort Myers) Big Hickory Pass Bridge (Bonita Beach area) It’s anticipated all Lee County DOT bridges will have had structural reviews by Tuesday morning. Note: Prior to Hurricane Irma, Lee County suspended tolls for its three toll bridges; that suspension remains in effect until further notice. Road update from Lee DOT: All Lee County-maintained arterial roads (major thoroughfare) and collector streets (roads that deliver traffic to arterials) will be cleared and passable by 1 p.m., although some roads may have standing water issues. Previous release today: with Sanibel update Lee County DOT has cleared the following bridges for travel as of Monday morning post-Irma: Matlacha Bridge (on Greater Pine Island) Big Carlos Pass Bridge (between Fort Myers Beach and Bonita Beach) Lee County DOT has cleared the Sanibel We at Casa Bonita Royale have a person on site. She and her husband own a unit. They said that most of the condo buildings, they have inspected, near us, only revealed some roof and tile damage. Some carport damage to our carport and many screens have some damage. They saw no evidence of any surge. One unit had a broken window at CBR, which is a problem to get fixed, as there are few supplies to board it up and get it dried out. Very difficult to get around and NO gas. Many areas of inland Bonita and along the Imperial River flooded. We have power at Casa Bonita Royale and no damage to the docks or boats. ....from: Lee Christoferson, Casa Bonita Royale.
As of 3:00 central.
We do not have internet or TV. I have placed a call to Summit Broadband to report the outage. The Elevator does not work. (we have placed a service call to Thyssen Krupp) There is a small amount of broken glass near the elevators we believe the source is the fire hose cabinets. Most of the EXIT signs on the first 4 floors are missing or "dangling.' There is sand around the pool and possibly in the pool. There is other "stuff" in the pool. The pool pump is off and therefore we shouldn't have any damage to it. (good thinking Bill Cheal). We still don't know the extent of damage to the roof ..There are still gusting HIGH winds and at this minute we don't have anyone there to inspect it. We hope to have someone 'check out" the roof and individual units tomorrow and then next day. I doubt I get much more information today but if I do I will post it here. Karen . Bonita Beach Club—9:30 a.m. Report from John Swan
Good Morning BBC residents (from John Swan-Resident)
This is Lisé from Gulf Harbor. We had an update from one of our owners who took shelter but was able to get to Hickory Island today. In summary, it doesn't appear that there was storm surge damage (the island didn't submerge)... We have minimal power in our building. There was damage to screens and some water got in to some windows (reported only from the one unit at this time). Outside, they reported no broken glass. The pool deck / pavers were intact and the pool itself didn't have sand but other debris. There was no report on our docks so am assuming they are all there! Update as of 9/11/2017 12:45 central
We have lost one of our three biggest trees at the front of the property. We have damage to the soffits on the car ports (not sure how extensive the damage is to the car ports or the cars under them). From the outside The Rain’s vehicle and Lou’s car looks fine. We are not sure about other cars at this time. We are not sure if the elevator is working and we are not sure if all units have air conditioning. We have contacted Dirk to see if he will be able to check our units. FYI he has suffered damage to his property and also has been the victim of a theft. His house and garage was “robbed” while he was gone. I will update you with more information as it is available. Shirley reports that we have power at Casa Bonita I. There is some broken glass from the fire hose cabinets. The Club Room looks good.
Kevin reported: I Just heard from Karen from Sterling realty. She walked around our building . She saw very little damage to our building. Ambassador and Egret lost some of the roof. She didn't detect any breach in my unit (101) but did not go inside. Sterling Realty and Casa Royale have power. Saw no sign of substantial surge problems 1 of 1 Updated: September 11, 2017 Bonita Springs Utilities Update Sept. 11, 2017 BONITA SPRINGS UTILITIES, INC. POST HURRICANE IRMA UPDATE Following Hurricane Irma, initial damage assessment is ongoing. BSU water and wastewater plants suffered damage and service interruptions during the storm, but staff manning the plants throughout the storm maintained operations. Damage assessment in our service area may take several days, and is made more difficult by extensive debris, flooding, power supply and access problems. We ask our members to assist us by reporting water leaks they find to 239-992-0711. Widespread power outages are impacting wastewater pump stations. Stationary and portable generators are being used to maintain the system until electric service is restored. Water and wastewater service remains out on Bonita Beach. We are working hard to maintain water service in the rest of our service area, but damage in the distribution system is making that difficult. We will keep customers updated on this developing issue. We ask our customers to conserve water as much as possible, and use wastewater service sparingly until normal service is restored. Ken Wittrock, Shirley and Lou are all fine (they evacuated but are in Florida). Ken said he received a report from a resident from Royale that a couple of Condos (Ambassador and Egret) lost their roof. But we don't have any confirmation of this information. Ken will update us when is has a chance to visit the area.
I check the cameras in The Club Room and my devices in my unit. None of the devices are on-line. I will update as I hear information. Waiting is not easy. Karen |
