Preparing for the next storm

The weather channel is predicting a 4-10' wall of water.

Suggestion: Have your unit checked by your home watch person. Do this immediately.

Make sure to fully close your shutters and store the manual crank in the utility room or on your lanai.

Double-check to ensure that all doors and windows are tightly shut and securely locked.

Please ensure that all doors and windows are closed and securely locked.

Please ensure that your water is turned off.

Verify your water heater circuit breaker is off.

Please address any other issues in your unit.

The residents on-site are moving cars to higher ground. If you have a car on the property please contact one of the board members if you need help moving your car.

Grounds and first floor assessment

We experienced some screen damage on the first floor.

Due to water damage, the baseboard had to be removed in some areas of the first-floor units. Additionally, there is a thin layer of sand in these units.

We have some damage to the fencing on the south side of the building.

The pool pumping equipment was damaged during the storm.

The parking structure in front of the building has sand underneath it.

The south end of the property immediately after the storm.

Due to the configuration of our pool, our contractor had to rely heavily on manual labor, making the progress slow and difficult.

We're working hard to swiftly clear the sand from the parking lot.

After a few days of cleaning, the pavers and a pile of sand are visible at the south end of the property.

However, after removing a few sections of fencing, we were able to significantly expedite the process.

uPDATE

10/5/2024

Our pool and pool equipment were buried in sand and are being uncovered and evaluated. A very rough estimate is 8-12 weeks for the pool to be back in operation.

Our property has been inundated with a significant volume of sand and water due to the storm Helene. The cleanup of the parking area is currently underway. To expedite the cleanup, heavy equipment is located in the parking lot. Currently, parking spaces are unassigned and will be used by work trucks and excavating equipment. Workers are busy cleaning up the north and south patios and the area around the pool.

We are currently addressing some damage on the first floor, and rest assured, we are actively evaluating and cleaning the affected area to ensure everything is back to normal as soon as possible.

Regrettably, the sand excavator damaged an irrigation pipe, requiring a temporary shutdown of the water supply to the entire building for repairs.

Good News
At the moment, electricity is running smoothly, the elevators are operational, and several residents are present in their units. Outside, the sounds of excavators and other workers can be heard.

We lost power for a short time

Yesterday at around 3 p.m., we experienced a power outage in the building. Fortunately, power was restored around 4 a.m. this morning.

We have water and sand in the pool and some sand on the pavers and parking lot.

The damage to our condo was limited to water and sand in the pool and sand on the pavers. There was no substantial damage to our building.

There is sand on Hickory Blvd, and workers have started to remove it. According to Suzanne, they are not allowing people on Hickory Blvd because of the sand and the workers.
