Currently, we DO NOT have people in the building.
I am sorry, NO ONE can check individual units. We know you are all nervous and want to know more but at this time the only option is to wait.
You may want to contact your WATCH company but I doubt they are going to inspect units for several days.
It is hard to imagine the total devastation to our building. Based on the information I have available I will try to explain some of what our Board Members observed after the storm.
Between unit 101-102 there is no true separation, only wall studs. (no sheet rock)
The same between The Clubroom and unit 105.
There is no wall between the Clubroom and the storage closets.
Most if not all items in the storage closets and the actual closets are gone.
Most of the doors and windows on the first-floor units are gone.
There is little or no furniture in any of the units on the first floor
When the water hit the electrical panel for the building there was an explosion and it caused damage to the panel/box for the ENTIRE BUILDING and even the wall of that room. ** THIS IS CRITICAL FOR GETTING ELECTRICITY RESTORED TO THE BUILDING: This is not a MINOR problem. It is not just a matter of getting FPL to restore power. We will need a Commercial Electrician review and possibly redo all of the panel wiring.
We are estimating this is a process that will take weeks or months. – We will not have power, we will not have air conditioning and we will have humidity in all units for a long time.
You may have water in your unit we just do not have any idea.
The road is still impassable. The only access is to walk to and from Doc’s.
I am sure the county is working to clear the debris but there is also standing water on the road and that will need to recede before the Sheriff will allow people access beyond Doc’s.
There is water damage to unit 202, 206, 207. We don’t know about other units.
I will post a few photos on our website in a few minutes.
