Lock Up to Send Thieves on Their Way!

July 14, 2020 --
Please Help Us, Help You!
From the Desk of Sheriff Carmine Marceno
As your Sheriff, I want to remind you that no matter where you park your car or truck, please make sure your doors are locked when you walk away.
Typically we see more car burglaries in the summertime and this summer is no different. We are currently investigating a number of reports of vehicle burglaries, many of which happen right in front of homes in driveways or under carports - even in gated communities! 99% of the time, the vehicles are unlocked! No doubt, unlocked cars and trucks are easy targets for thieves, pulling on door handles when the sun goes down.
Avoid becoming a victim! Don't make it easy! Always lock your doors, remove all valuables, weapons, and yes, your keys, along with any paperwork with your personal information on it.
Remind your friends and family members - because no one wants to become a victim. That would definitely ruin your day.
Also, if you have video surveillance, please check to make sure the cameras are recording and lenses are clean.
Remember, if you see suspicious behavior or a possible crime in progress, please call 911.
Non-emergency (239) 477-1000.
Take care! Be safe!
