BONITA SPRINGS UTILITIES, INC.
POST HURRICANE IRMA UPDATE
Following Hurricane Irma, initial damage assessment is ongoing. BSU water and wastewater plants suffered damage and service interruptions during the storm, but staff manning the plants throughout the storm maintained operations. Damage assessment in our service area may take several days, and is made more difficult by extensive debris, flooding, power supply and access problems. We ask our members to assist us by reporting water leaks they find to 239-992-0711.
Widespread power outages are impacting wastewater pump stations. Stationary and portable generators are being used to maintain the system until electric service is restored. Water and wastewater service remains out on Bonita Beach. We are working hard to maintain water service in the rest of our service area, but damage in the distribution system is making that difficult. We will keep customers updated on this developing issue. We ask our customers to conserve water as much as possible, and use wastewater service sparingly until normal service is restored.
